Excellent base for walking the mountains in the north/centre of the district. Very small but has what you need. Watch your head on the low ceiling at the top of the ladder steps & on the protruding bars near the arm chair. I found it very quiet (although the campsite was all but empty). It is small, but has everything you'd need (a microwave would have been nice, but there's not enough space and it's quite manageable without one!) including a lovely hot shower! A great find. Perfect compact accommodation for one person at a reasonable price. Many walks from the door. I recommend a book called The Threlkeld Walking Companion - A Country Stride Guidebook. View of Blencathra. Everything you need.

I had a lovely relaxing stay in the hiking hut. I just wanted some peace and to relax and walk with my dog & that was achieved. The heated flooring keeps the hut nice and snug. I love the stable door, it was good to have open during the day so my dog could peep and see what was going on outside. I will be back xxx
