Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life at this beautifully converted cider mill in the heart of the Forest of Dean. Sleeping four people over two bedrooms and welcoming one canine companion, this wonderful property is the perfect country bolthole for a romantic break for two or a getaway for a small family or group of friends. You’ll adore the remote location and quaint country features, and your pup will love snoozing in front of the cottage’s cosy wood burner.
Step inside and you’ll find a beautiful interior overflowing with original features and rustic character. Start your day with a coffee under the pergola in the garden, before heading to the vegetable patch in search of treats for dinner. Enjoy a stroll with your pup through the orchard before heading out to explore the surrounding countryside. Later in the day make your way to the kitchen/breakfast room, which is flooded with natural light. Cook dinner and dine at the kitchen table, or, for a more formal dining experience, head to the snug. Alternatively, step outside and dine alfresco on the terrace. After dinner, pour yourself a glass of wine and gather around the chimenea, or head indoors to watch your favourite TV shows as your pup snoozes in front of the wood burner. When it’s time for bed, there are two wonderful bedrooms to choose from upstairs.
Take your pup for a stroll at Tintern Abbey (14 miles). Afterwards, you’ll find a dog-friendly pub just across the car park. Alternatively, hop on board one of the steam trains at the Dean Forest Railway (8.5 miles). You can grab a takeaway afternoon tea at the cafe for your journey, and your pup is welcome to come along for the ride.
