A lovely country cottage with lots of character and features with some fabulous walks from your front door.

Nestled on the edge of the North Pennines and only a short distance from Lake District in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this cosy cottage welcomes four guests and one canine chum to a countryside holiday. Spend your days exploring rolling hillsides, babbling brooks and enjoying hours of walkies along pretty lanes, before returning to relax in front of the wood burner, glass of wine in hand and pup snoozing at your feet.

Low ceilings, rustic oak beams and country-cottage styling creates a cosy and welcoming home from home here. Curl up on the sofas to relax after a long day out walking, while your pup stretches out at your feet next to the crackling wood burner. Cook up a storm in the kitchen and gather for meals at the dining table, the perfect spot to enjoy some home-cooked food with your loved ones enjoying views across the fields. Wake refreshed in bright bedrooms and enjoy your morning coffee in the small unfenced seating area in front of the property, listening to the sounds of the countryside as your pup scampers on the grass. A lovely spot to sit out on a summer’s evening, make the most of it by dining alfresco as the kids play in the last of the sun.

Located in the pretty village of Croglin, this picturesque fellside village is between the Pennines and the River Eden and offers plenty of walks straight from your door. Take a dog-friendly trip from the village of Armathwaite (5 miles) on the famous Carlisle to Settle railway line, or spend a day at Talkin Tarn Country Park (8.5 miles), a lakeside recreation area for sailing, fishing and windsurfing, with woodland trails for your pup and a tearoom for you. This is a perfect little cottage for a couple in warmer weather. Sadly the weather was poor for us which meant that we had to use the log burner daily as the heating was insufficient.

Our family of 3, plus 1 dog, had a lovely week at Eden Cottgae. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, as were the sofa and chairs in the sitting room. The wee kitchen was well stocked with equipment and the house was clean throughout. The village pub was closed (temporarily?) which was a slight disappointment. We enjoyed exploring Hadrians Wall,Read more Winlatter Forest, and High Nick Cup, as well as walks straight from the door. Wed all happily return for another peaceful week! Hide

Great location for small group or family to reach Hadrian's Wall and other attractions in the northern part of the Lakes. Ideal base for cycling up Great Dun Fell and over Hartside Pass and beyond (part of the C2C). Recommend the pub at Castle Carrock and Talkin Tarn for picnic, boat hire and short walks. Beautiful location. Very peaceful. Perfect for a short break. We stayed longer so missed having a washing machine and a bath. Other than that, locals were friendly, owners are lovely - nothing too much trouble and nice little country pub at the end of the road. Lots of pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops in both Brampton (nearest town) and Penrith.
