Positioned at the heart of the Peak District within 3 miles of the historic Bakewell and on the cusp of Ashford-in-the-Water is this charming cottage that’s ideal for families, especially the four-legged members. Characterised by a roaring wood burner, mature gardens and countryside views, your cosy accommodation sleeps four humans and two dogs in complete comfort, providing an excellent base for your adventures.

Beneath the red brick exterior is a delightful haven that’s made deliciously warm by the lounge wood burner, comfy furniture and homely details. Whip up your favourite meals in the country cottage-style kitchen and gather the pack for mealtimes, not forgetting to slip your pup a few morsels. There’s a downstairs shower room and two bedrooms upstairs, one of which has the bonus of an en-suite bathroom. The wipe-clean floors are no match for messy paws, and there’s even a handy outhouse with a washer/dryer for muddy garments. Let Fido take the lead and step outside with your morning coffee, watching him excitedly following scents in the garden whilst you fire up the BBQ for an extra special breakfast.

Leave no stick unfetched and access a plethora of trails from your doorstep, appreciating the unspoilt beauty of this stunning Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. For film buffs, the impressive frontage of Chatsworth House 6 miles away is instantly recognisable from Pride and Prejudice, and your lucky hound is welcome to take a step back in time with you as you explore the gardens and parkland. They may not be permitted in the house or farm, but there are doggy drinking stations and a pooch-friendly seating area inside the cafe. Bakewell 3 miles away is sure to set tails wagging, so pick up a slice of the famous pudding as you explore the narrow streets.

A lovely cottage which has everything you need, including an enclosed outside space. The cottage is spacious, well equipped, spotlessly clean, has a lovely log burner, comfortable beds and great bathrooms. The showers were hot and powerful, the power can also be adjusted and the bath was the perfect size for a comfortable soak. Located close to BakRead moreewell and Ashford in the Water with lots of great walks and places to visit. I would recommend this cottage. Hide

Absolutely beautiful cottage in a wonderful location. So peaceful and relaxing. We loved our stay, so easy to get to Ashford, Longstone and the Monsal Trail. Lovely enclosed garden that the dogs enjoyed exploring

Beautifully appointed cottage, furnished to a very high standard. Extremely comfortable beds, and good heating and hot water in abundance. Very cosy too, with charming hosts. We really enjoyed our stay at Red House cottage and hope to return.

Great location for walking. Small and cosy accommodation. Log burner enjoyed as weather was cold. Needs a little updating.

The cottage is in a very good position for walking across the fields to Monsal Head where many walks begin. Don't walk down to Ashford in the Water as the road is busy and narrow. The cottage is cosy and comfortable but !SELECTED!not four star !ENDOFSELECTED!!

Lovely cottage in a great location, walks from the doorstep and close to Bakewell for anything you need whilst there. Kristin and Ian are always friendly and helpful and the eggs from Caleb are a great way to start the day!

A comfortable stay, owner was very friendly. Downstairs was fine but could do with refreshing and updating. Wi-fi was flaky and could not be relied on. Would be happy to stay again.

We had a lovely stay in Red House Cottage. It's cosy and well equipped for 4 people, a stone's throw from Monsal Head and the Monsal trails (with a footpath right from the cottage) and well placed for trips to Bakewell, Buxton and beyond. The owners were really helpful, giving us recommendations for places to eat and walks to do with our reactive dRead moreog. Thank you. Hide

The cottage was so cosy for a winter break. After time out cycling in the beautiful countryside, what better than a lovely hot shower and then a cuppa by the wood burning stove. Perfect!

Owners very friendly and accommodating but it is obvious that priority is in running the farm resulting in lack of attention to detail within the cottage.

Cottage is in a good location. Bed lining was spotless, but the kitchen wasnt clean. You have to ask the owners every time you want the heating adjusted. All dog owners should know that dogs are not allowed to be left in the cottage unattended unless crated. This information wasnt made clear until after I had booked and paid for the cottage. The coRead morettage is sold on the fact that its on a farm, but we never got to see any animals and theres no view and a road close to the cottage. Hide
