Occupying a sought-after spot in Fowey, Cornwall, this splendid Victorian townhouse is set over three floors and overlooks the estuary and bay beyond. Sleeping up to six people and one canine companion, it’s perfect for a family getaway by the sea. Set foot – or paw – outside for a stroll along the quayside to soak up the sights, sounds and smells of the harbour before heading to one of the area’s many white sandy beaches for an afternoon of frolics in the surf.

Decorated in calming neutral tones, the property has a cosy open-plan living space with beautiful sea views. After enjoying a meal cooked in the range-style oven, play cards at the dining table or settle back in the lounge area to watch the Smart TV and stretch out beside the warming wood burner. The three bedrooms are arranged around the second and third floors, and boast lovely views of Fowey. On a sunny day, grab a fresh coffee from the Delonghi machine and take it into the garden or summer house to relax with a holiday read. The garden is safely enclosed, so your dog can join you to sprawl out on the lawn.

Readymoney Cove is within a mile of the property, with a sandy beach and rock pools to sniff out. There’s a seasonal dog ban here, but if you travel 4 miles down the coast to Polridmouth Cove, Fido will be able to feel the sand between his paws all year round. For a different experience, scamper aboard the passenger ferry that runs across the estuary to Polruan or take another ferry to the village of Mevagissey for a spot of lunch in a pub that welcomes canine seafarers. Another fantastic family day can be enjoyed at the world-famous Eden Project (6.5 miles).

The cottage is in an excellent position to explore Fowey and Polruan. It is quiet, warm and very comfortable. Views from the lounge across the estuary are superb, with the added interest of the small ferry going past. Very dog friendly with towels/blankets and a dog poo bin in the garden. Perfect location so close to all the amenities in Fowey, parking our electric car was fine; car park by the ferry had electric charge points, we always found a space despite it being in high season, we parked first & walked up with our belongings. It kept us fit walking up the slope & all the stairs in the property; 3 floors, steps up to the top gaRead morerden worth it for the fabulous view; cosy garden room is a bonus. Excellent cottage, great location with parking nearby at Caffa Mill and easy access to the town, Recently refurbished to a very high standard with a lovely garden with views of the river, Brilliant holiday for the whole family, fourth time at Portingales for us and we will be back!

This property is wonderfully decorated throughout, we could not fault it. Welcome pack with some essentials on arrival was lovely to see. Location was perfect for us. Large car park easy to find, just a couple of minutes walk away. Would definitely recommend.

The cottage was extremely comfortable and ideally placed for discovering the shops, pubs and restaurants of Fowey. Although no spaces at the property, parking was straightforward, close by and reasonably priced for the week.

Splendid location a few minutes easy walk into the town. Excellent bakery and numerous shops & pubs all close by. Cottage is ideal for 5 or 6 and have no complaints. We arrived to find no hot water but this was fixed within an hour or so - thank you. Would definitely return.
