This studio-style lodge in a wonderful complex of properties in Dorset sleeps two people in one bedroom and welcomes one faithful friend. It’s the perfect romantic bolthole for couples who believe their dog deserves a fantastic getaway too. Set in a striking hillside location with panoramic country views towards the bay, you can enjoy a dip in the bubbling hot tub here as your pup plays happily in the enclosed garden/patio.
A steep path takes you up the hillside to this single-storey property. Step through the double doors and you’ll find yourself in a light, bright open-plan space with separate areas for living, cooking and sleeping. Cook up a storm in the kitchen before heading outside to dine alfresco on the terrace. Soak up the views across the hills to the bay as you dine, and then make your way to the hot tub for a well-deserved dip with your loved one. There’s no need to worry about your pup, as the garden is enclosed, so they can sniff about to their heart’s content.
Your pup is sure to enjoy walkies through the Fossil Forest (10 miles), which is located in the famous Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. This is a dramatic spot where you’ll discover the petrified remains of a cypress forest that grew here when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Along this trail, you’ll pass a beach and a pub where dogs are welcome. Alternatively, pack up your swimsuit and make your way to Ringstead Bay (2 miles), where dogs are welcome all year round. The western side of the beach has a number of rock pools to explore and there’s also a reef close to the shore that’s visible when the tide is out.
