Book a group holiday to the Scottish borders and bring the family pets with you to this delightful escape. This five-bedroom holiday home at West Linton, 17 miles from Edinburgh, offers plenty for everyone to enjoy. Nine guests and two dogs can stay at the property, which has a sauna, games room and extensive gardens.

 

Enter this inviting property and make your way into the open-plan, split-level lounge/kitchen/diner. Call your four-pawed friends over to the kitchen for their dinner while you prepare meals for everyone else to enjoy at the table or breakfast bar. Watch the Smart TV in the glow of the wood burner, with your pups at your feet. There is a boot room, for towelling dogs down after games in the garden on damp days and two machines and a tumble dryer in the utility room for washing their old towels. There is also a downstairs shower room and the games room, which has another TV, plus table tennis and pool tables, and a snug with musical instruments. Bid your dogs goodnight before venturing upstairs to discover two twin rooms, with en-suite shower rooms and zip-and-link beds that can be made into super-king-sizes if requested in advance. Two more twin rooms can also be found here, one with an en-suite shower room with WC, and a single bedroom. There is also a family shower room and a bathroom. Spend sunny days in the garden watching the pups race about. The wonderful sauna and bicycle storage is also outside and that there is generous parking.

 

Head out on foot from home and within about 1 mile you will find yourselves in the scenic Pentland Hills. Pick up a section of the National Scottish Trail, which runs the length of Scotland for 535 miles. Drive 17 miles to take your delighted dogs to explore Glentress Forest.

Absolutely fantastic property, great location and well equipped. My only negative is the main oven was an Argo which I personally don't rate. There was a normal oven which was ok but a little small for cooking Sunday lunch. We also found the electric hob difficult to operate. Overall a great property

we had a great week with two families in the cottage. Balgonie retreat is so charming, relaxed, well kept and full of history. Location ist very good for Edinburgh (use free park and ride at Straiton, then bus), coast and tweed valley. Hosts were incredibly friendly. Fully recommend!

Exactly what we wanted for our family holiday. Great facilities, in a quiet location. The property is well maintained, very clean and well equipped. The owners friendly and accommodating without being intrusive, my 13 year old grandson is already planning our next visit. Thank you Lucy and Kenny for a great holiday.

Great location. Lovely house. Comfortable clean beds. Plenty of toilets/shower facilities. Very friendly/helpful hosts. This is an ideal property for large families or groups to get together for a weekend, or in our case a week's holiday where you can all be together or you can find a quiet place, either inside or out to be alone. The cottage, gardens and outdoor area are all lovely and so well maintained. The house is equipped with absolutely everything you could possibly need for a stay. We had taken things with us that we thought might not be supplied, but there was no need. We would definitely come back

Although our weather wasn't the best, we had an excellent week in this fabulous place. The house has everything you could want - just perfect. And it is well placed for exploring the area - and also within east reach of Edinburgh. We really appreciated the help and advice from Lucy and Kenny. We hope to return one day!

Thoroughly enjoyed our week in this beautiful house! Had more than we needed for two families and a dog. Kenny and Lucy were very welcoming making sure we were happy with everything and explaining how everything worked if we had any problems. Great base for Edinburgh and Peebles. Didn't go too far. It's an excellent house for a large family gathering. Well equipped, very comfortable beds, great showers. Good restaurant and pub in the village as well as a Co-op and butcher's shop. Plenty of walks, would recommend the village heritage trail and walks in the Cardrona Forest, near Peebles.

Absolutely a wonderful place to stay! Very serene and peaceful. The house was large , spacious and comfortable. The hosts Lucy and Kenny were very gracious and were on hand to help if needed. Altogether a relaxing and charming house and hosts! Will definitely return.

The cottage is clean and very well arranged. You will find anything you might need and more to make your stay comfortable. It is well located for any type of holidays, because you are in the middle of beautiful nature and just a short drive from Edinburgh.

A very well appointed property with plenty of space and entertainment for the three generations of our extended family from around the world. Quiet location but with access to Edinburgh for overseas visitors. Fab house, spotlessly clean, with bright welcoming spaces to relax. The games room was fantastic, and kept our teenagers (and us) entertained! The owners, who live nearby, were welcoming and helpful. Fantastic location, with nice places to walk right from the door, and a good pub in West Linton with food to suit all tastes.

Fantastic house, warm, cosy and lots of space at the same time. Walks were a little limited for us, but it was a wonderful stay. The kitchen hob needs the dials changed, as some of the markers have worn off & made it very hard to use. The Aga kept it all toasty in there.
