Treat yourselves and your pampered pup to a bit of luxury at this gorgeous lodge. It’s the ideal size for a small family or two couples, and has been designed with as much care and attention as if the owners lived there themselves. It’s tucked away in a quiet village with plenty to do nearby for those with two and four legs.
The interior of this pup-welcoming property is simply stunning. It has a stylish home-from-home vibe, with everything you need and a few things you didn’t realise you needed – and most importantly, for the humans, a private hot tub. The bedrooms, a double and a twin, are comfy and inviting with lovely little design quirks. The hot tub is screened-off from the rest of the gravelled garden where there’s plenty of space to sit in the sunshine while your canine chum chases his tail.
The lodge is in Clifton, a quiet village in the Dales, just 1.5 miles from Ashbourne and 3 miles from the Peak District National Park. There’s a pub in the village, popular with real ale drinkers, that welcomes dogs and makes a great start and/or finish point for a walk or bike ride. There are heaps of routes to choose from nearby, including the 13-mile Tissington Trail – suitable for walking or cycling – which starts in Ashbourne and goes to Parsley Hay. For thrill-seekers, Alton Towers, is only 10.5 miles away. If you’ve got a head for heights, take a cable car ride up to the Heights of Abraham to visit the illuminated caverns at the top in Matlock Bath (14 miles). There’s also an adventure playground for kids and lovely woodland walks with amazing views. If your dog has a sense of adventure take them too, they’re welcome on the cable car! For something a little more sedate, book a steam train ride from Matlock Station 15.5 miles away ¬where roaming Rovers ride for free.
