A great spot for exploring both countryside and coast, this charming cottage is ideally placed for tail-wagging trips to Exmoor and Minehead. Located in the village of Washford, it sleeps two people and two four-legged friends. Snuggle up in front of the wood burner warming your toes or paws after a day at the beach or a satisfying meal in the local dog-friendly pub.

 

With exposed beams, original stonework and antique furniture, the property is full of character from top to bottom. The bright and airy kitchen is great for cooking new recipes in the electric Range oven and throwing the dogs a meaty treat to chew on. Settle back in the spacious lounge/diner for a relaxing evening with a hearty feast, bottle of red and a rom-com on the TV. Up cottage-style stairs you’ll find a cosy en-suite standard double bedroom that provides a romantic retreat after a busy day. Outside, your curious canines will adore exploring the enclosed walled courtyard garden while you soak up the view over the stream towards Cleeve Abbey.

 

Step back in time for a nostalgic steam train ride in the company of your canine chums on the West Somerset Railway, handily located in the village. Head to the coast to give your pups a run out on the sand. Both Watchet (3 miles) and Minehead (6.5 miles) have stretches of beach that welcome canine holidaymakers all year round. Enjoy walks around the winding streets of the medieval village of Dunster (4.5 miles) and take in the awe-inspiring landscape of Exmoor National Park (4 miles).

  • 3 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £150 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £20. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

Great location to visit the area and especially the parc of Exmoor. The cottage is cosy and big enough for 2 people and a dog. The pub nearby is a fantastic place, as well as the cider farm in the village. The kitchen is big and well equipped but the basic elements were not provided (salt, oil, milk). Exceptional value for money in peak holiday time. Best equipped kitchen of any property Ive stayed in. Very spacious for a cottage with lovely lounge to relax in & peaceful garden with a bubbling river at the bottom. Perfectly located for travel to surrounding beaches and places of interest. We would stay here again.

The cottage is in a fantastic position with a pub within walking distance that serves fab food but you need to book to avoid disappointment. Everywhere we wanted to go was just a short drive away and there was lots of choice on things to do.

Rose cottage is a delightful base for trips. You will need a car really to get around. It is well equipped and spacious for two people.

Absolutely amazing stay at Rose Cottage this weekend. We were so lucky with the weather and got to make the most of everything in the surrounding areas. There is not loads to do in the general village which we were already aware of so recommend having a car to visit the nearby villages. The cottage was in a lovely location and we had a great time, we had to park the car just up the road but you could see it from the living room, the White Horse pub was lovely and the food was great.

Very happy with our stay at rose cottage. Very spacious and had everything we required. Location was great too. Was lovely to go and relax before we welcome out little bub in November. Our pups had best time and enjoyed being away enjoying new walks :)

Good location, parking is very close by. Tastefully decorated, inkeeping with the age of the cottage, but the sofa was rather hard & uncomfortable, the TV also had its "challenges", so after a long day, couldnt really relax. Shower was lovely & the bed comfortable. Nice garden, with sounds of nearby stream. I loved the range oven, I want one! We really enjoyed our stay in this refurbished property, it is a mixture of cottage style and modern kitchen and shower room. The kitchen was well equipped with all necessary utensils. A lovely quirky cottage, central to travelling around the area. Good pub White horse within walking distance, Somerset Steam train in walking distance as well. Rose cottage is in a good location for getting out and about. It was clean and tidy and had a homely feel. The cottage is located on a side road but the road is a lot busier than you would expect. There is a great pub down the same road that has a nice restaurant. It was a nice place to stay and we enjoyed the break.
