Contemporary lodge, with views over the Fells and Caldbeck Valley, fabulous walks right from your door. A great retreat for friends or family looking to explore the Lakes and great outdoors.
Enjoy fell walks direct from the doorstep during your stay at this contemporary lodge. Located on a working farm, it has a two-bedroom, two-bathroom layout and offers breathtaking views across the Caldbeck Valley.
Surrounded by open countryside in the Northern Fells, this beautiful bolthole offers four guests and their faithful companion a complete escape from the everyday, with wall-to-wall windows bringing the outside in and a wood burner for toasty toes and paws in all weathers. A spacious open-plan living room welcomes you inside – a lovely social area with far-reaching valley views from the lounge and dining area. Stretch out on a comfortable sofa, turn on the TV/DVD and, if there’s a chill in the air outdoors, fire up the wood burner. At the far end of this space, the kitchen has everything you’ll need to cook up delicious dinners, plus a breakfast bar where you can enjoy a coffee and chat while Rover keeps hopeful watch for tasty treats. Once he’s curled up in his bed, a hallway from the kitchen leads to two inviting bedrooms – a king-size with its own en-suite shower room, and a twin bedroom. Each is bright and airy thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows, while a separate bathroom ensures comfort for all. Lap up the stunning scenery from your raised decking area – located at the front of the lodge, it has outdoor furniture so you can sit and watch the world go by, meet the farmer’s friendly sheep and watch as the sun sets over the fells; on clear nights the sky is ablaze with stars.
Enjoy numerous walkies direct from your door – head to the summits of High Pike and Carrock Fell, or stroll along the riverbank to Caldbeck and on to the limestone gorge of Howk – the waterfalls are a fabulous sight. For more challenging hikes, the Cumbria Way passes nearby on its route from Ulverston to Carlisle. For a taste of local life, Caldbeck (2 miles) has a timeless character and is home to a pet-friendly inn, tea rooms and local stores, while neighburing Hesket Newmarket has a wide main street, 18th-century houses and a central Market Cross on a well-kept village green.
