This chic apartment, in the pretty seaside resort of Ilfracombe, sleeps five guests and two canine chums. You’ll be less than 1 mile from the gorgeous harbour, where you can potter around with an ice cream, watching the fishing boats and admiring Damien Hirst’s magnificent Verity statue. The long, sandy beach at Saunton is just 10 miles away, where Fido can enjoy mile upon mile of off-lead fun.
The stylish first-floor apartment is decorated in muted blues and greys, creating a calm and relaxing environment. Modern furniture and unusual light fittings bring a contemporary feel to the open-plan lounge/diner, which is flooded with natural light thanks to the large bay window. This is a lovely spot to unwind with a good book, with your favourite furry friend curled up on the rug. Outside, there’s a raised patio area where the hound can potter around and you can enjoy a spot of al fresco dining on a warm evening.
Just 1.5 miles from the property is Hele Bay – a beautiful, secluded sand and shingle cove. It welcomes doggies all year and is a great place for rock pooling. If it’s a long dog walk you’re after, head to Saunton Sands. Apart from a small restriction at the start of the beach, your four-legged pal will have access to 3 miles of golden sand to charge around on. There’s also a network of trails to explore throughout Braunton Burrows, one of the largest sand dune systems in the British Isles, which runs along the length of the beach. While away a couple of hours at Broomhill Sculpture Gardens (9 miles away). Situated deep in a magical valley, surrounded by hundreds of acres of woodland, this gorgeous garden houses one of the largest collections of outdoor contemporary sculptures in the South West.
