This quirky retreat provides the perfect opportunity to fully switch off, surrounded by nature in a magical setting at the northern tip of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Wake up to the sound of birds singing in the trees and enjoy a pre-breakfast dog walk through the secluded forest. You’ll be just 0.5 miles from the book-lovers town of Hay-on-Wye, where you can peruse the eclectic mix of independent shops, wander along the river and go wild-water swimming with the pups at The Warren.
The pretty, wood-clad glamping pod has been cleverly designed to maximise the interior space. A comfy sofa sits in front of a roaring wood burner, with plenty of room for the hounds to stretch out on the colourful rug. Sit here with a glass of wine or enjoy a meal around the dining table and take in your tranquil surroundings through the floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors. Both bedrooms feature vibrant fabrics and have large geometric windows, allowing you to quietly observe the forest waking up for the day from the comfort of your own bed. You and your furry buddies are welcome to explore the site and there is a BBQ available if you fancy a spot of al fresco dining under the stars.
It’s easy to while away a lazy afternoon pottering around Hay-on-Wye. It’s packed with independent shops and cafes, many of which happily welcome canine visitors. From the town centre, follow the signs to the river to paddle in the water at The Warren or take a long walk along the banks of the River Wye. Just outside the town, you’ll find Hay Bluff (3 miles). This magnificent hill in the Black Mountains straddles the Wales/England border and a climb to its summit rewards you with splendid views over the Wye Valley.
