Property code: BN366

This stylish property sleeps four guests and two furry friends and boasts a variety of walks into the countryside straight from its front door. A visit to nearby Pwll-y-Wrach Nature Reserve is a must (5 miles), set in a steep-sided valley. You will walk through oak and ash woodlands arriving at the Witches Pool where the River Enig creates a spectacular waterfall. Close by is the enchanting town of Talgarth with its restored mill, independent shops, eateries and supermarket. The friendly village of Llangattock is just 7.5 miles away, where you can pick up the towpath for the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal which winds its way through the Usk Valley. The iconic Sugar Loaf Mountain (13 miles), with its panoramic views and exhilarating mountain tracks, is guaranteed to get ears flapping and tails wagging.

This single level cottage cleverly mixes contemporary style with traditional touches, such as the exposed stonework and wooden beams, to create a truly unique interior. Come together for breakfast around the dining table in the chic kitchen/diner to plan your day’s itinerary. This is also a good place for the hounds to set up base, as doors lead from here directly to the enclosed garden. In the evening, snuggle up on the corner sofa in the lounge to watch a film together, whilst the woofers warms their paws in front of the cosy wood burner. Outside, there’s a small lawn and decked area, where dogs can potter round, and you can enjoy a spot of al fresco dining on a summer’s evening.

A 1.5-mile stroll along the canal at Llangattock brings you to the charming little town of Crickhowell. Here, discover a fabulous selection of paw-friendly eateries as well as walks leading out of the town and up into the mountains. The iconic peak of Sugar Loaf Mountain provides another great day out. Dominating the Black Mountains skyline, a walk to the summit takes you through rugged wilderness on a series of criss-crossing paths, before treating you to breathtaking panoramic views across South Wales. Look out for the buzzards and red kites soaring overhead, too.

The location is amazing but the cottage in our opinion is not a 4star rating. Whilst the bedding was clean the rest of the cottage was not. The fridge freezer needs replacing and certain fixtures need some TLC. The owners in particular Tim was however are very friendly.

Lovely snug cottage, well equipped, warm (even warmer with the log burner on) and a great location for exploring the Brecons.

Lovely cottage, everything you would need, very comfortable but outside the empty flower pots growing weeds gave a rundown impression. Also the dog needs a bit of training as our dogs had had a stroke and his bounding in and out upset him. Lovely dog though.

Really friendly owners who left you to it, but were available if needed. Very much appreciated the coffee, milk and Welsh cakes on our arrival. Nice setting and lovely listening to the nearby stream. Great location with lots of places very local to visit
