Escape to the glorious countryside of the Brecon Beacons National Park, choosing this traditional stone retreat as the base for your explorations. Cosy and welcoming with timber-beamed ceilings, this former cattle shed sleeps five guests and is perfectly suited to families. Don’t forget the canine members too, there are plenty of snoozing spots for two accompanying hounds. The tranquil location on a working sheep farm promises scenic views in abundance and easy access to a plethora of walking and cycling routes.
Pad inside through the stone exterior to find a soothing living space characterised by original beams, oak windows and slate floors. Challenge your fellow foodies to a cook-off, transforming mouthwatering local fare into delicious meals that are best enjoyed around the table. The lounge is warmed throughout by a crackling wood burner, and a wooden staircase reveals two bedrooms, both beautifully styled with en-suites and ample space for a basket. Outside, descending a few stone steps from the patio will reward you with a vast expanse of manicured lawn shaded by mature trees and shrubbery, an excellent place to play ball games and fetch.
Lace up your boots and call Fido to heel ready for a countryside adventure, scampering along the trail to Llanfihangel Talyllyn 1 mile away for a pub lunch before following the more challenging routes leading further into the Brecon Beacons National Park. Llangorse Lake is a must for water sports and waterside strolls 4 miles away, where both the adrenaline seekers and the shoreline paw-dippers are well catered for. Further afield, Hay-on-Wye 15 miles away has a literacy reputation that precedes it thanks to its staggering array of bookshops, so you’ll soon find yourself a good page-turner to devour whilst seated outside a pretty cafe with your pup by your feet.
