Walking routes, stick chasing spots and peaks abound – escape to the fantastic Welsh countryside with all members of the family, including those with four legs! Sleeping six across three cosy rooms, and a comfortable place in front of the wood burner for waggy-tailed guests, head out as a family to explore the abundance of well-trodden trails nearby. Less than a mile from the River Wye, wander down to the water for a paddle and a splash without having to jump in the car.
The cottage is a light space in which to relax after adventures. Get the wood burner roaring in the lounge where sofas and chairs are perfectly arranged for everyone to lap up the heat whilst delving into a book or enjoying an afternoon snooze. Rustle up tasty treats in the galley-style kitchen which has a contemporary feel and is flooded with natural light. Make use of the washing machine after towelling down soggy fur and muddy paws so as not to dot pawprints throughout the house and give away your dog’s secret napping spot! After waking in one of three first-floor bedrooms, make your way downstairs and throw open the door to let pups and little ones enjoy stretching their legs and playing games of fetch before the day’s adventure.
A 4-mile jaunt will take you to The Warren, a shingle beach on the banks of the River Wye which provides the perfect paddling and picnic spot. On your way back home, stop by one of the dog-friendly pubs in the local village of Glasbury where your four-legged friend will be welcomed by treats and lots of well-deserved fuss as you tuck into delicious meals. Venture further afield into the Brecon Beacons National Park and enjoy a family climb up the highest peak in South Wales, Pen-y-Fan (22 miles).
