This stunning property, situated just 2.5 miles from Brecon, is ideal for a group getaway – with the pups in tow, of course! Sleeping eight over four cosy bedrooms, this wonderful farmhouse is ideal to use as a base for enjoying the many countryside walks available from the front door. Stroll around the grounds of the historic St Maelog Church (1 mile) or set out on one of the longer routes through the Brecon Beacons National Park, including an 8km-loop around Usk Reservoir (17 miles) with views of the Black Mountain.
The holiday home, which is set on the grounds of the owner’s property, has lots of country house charm. Exposed beams and period furniture dotted throughout the property remind you of its history. Head up the steep stairs to the sitting room to curl up on one of the sofas while the pups snooze by the wood burners beneath the superb vaulted, beamed ceilings. Let your canine companions run off some energy in the enclosed garden while you sizzle up the BBQ in the evening, enjoying the peace and tranquillity as the sun goes down and the stars come out.
Pay a visit to the National Park Visitor Centre (8 miles) where there are plenty of walks to enjoy with your canine companions and tasty goodies to sample in the restaurant. The National Showcaves Centre for Wales (19.5 miles) is a fantastic family attraction – just make sure you bring an extra layer as it’s always 10 degrees Celsius in the caves! Tretower Court (14.5 miles) is made up of a 13th-century circular keep and a fine late medieval house and welcomes your pups to explore this 900-year-old site with you.
