This homely country manor and is perfect for a big group holiday in the great outdoors, with views of the magnificent Brecon mountains all around.
A spectacular setting for outdoor pursuits in the Brecon Beacons, this simple bunkhouse-style accommodation is well-suited to outdoor activity groups, sleeping up to 24 humans and three dogs. After energetic escapades in the wilds of Mid Wales, there’s no shame in snatching 40 winks by the toasty wood burner. Then you’ll be refreshed and raring to go for a game of chase or rounders on the huge lawn.
The farmhouse is full of country charm, featuring original windows, ceiling beams and exposed stonework throughout. With many hungry mouths to feed, the triple Aga is a lifesaver if you’re rustling up a massive feast. Savour every mouthful in the attached dining room with tables and benches for all. In the evenings, play board games at the tables or watch a movie in the lounge. A second sitting room means there’s enough space for everyone to spread out. Canine chums can chase their tails in the enclosed grounds and join in the fun as you pick teams for a sports tournament on the lawn. When you’re finally tired out from playing games, head off to bed upstairs. Some bedrooms are dormitory-style, ideal for the younger members of your group.
The Brecon Beacons National Park Visitor Centre, about a 2 mile walk from the property, is a good place to find information on local walks and the best places to frolic in this wonderful natural environment. At Llangorse Multi Activity Centre (14 miles), try your hand at caving, abseiling, rock climbing and other exciting activities. If the dogs are with you, they must be kept on a lead. Elsewhere, venture to the picturesque market town of Brecon (6.5 miles), where you’ll find a canal, leisure centre, theatre and several spots for a bite to eat or tasty titbit.
