Revel in the natural beauty of the Brecon Beacons National Park from this four-bedroom stone property overlooking the River Senni. Located in the quiet hamlet of Defynnog, it’s ideal for a friends’ reunion or two families holidaying with their beloved dogs. The fabulous garden, which runs down to the water’s edge, is great for lapping up the sunshine or dining alfresco. And with an undercover hot tub to soak in, you can enjoy the views in luxury whatever the weather.
Warm tones make the cottage feel very homely, and there’s ample space for everyone to spread out. Light the wood burner in the lounge and settle down to watch TV with the dogs curled up at your feet. Prepare delicious holiday feasts in the kitchen, which has a breakfast bar and is warmed by underfloor heating that cold paws will appreciate. If you want a night off from cooking, amble half a mile down to the village pub with your hounds. Before bed, take them for one last mooch around the garden. As it’s not enclosed, you’ll need to keep a close eye on them. A downstairs bedroom with wet room means there’ll always be someone reassuringly close to your pets overnight. The other bedrooms are upstairs, and include a bunk room for the kids.
Fantastic dog walks are in plentiful supply in this part of Wales. Tackle the trails around the peaks of Pen y Fan, Corn Du and Cribyn or go for a more leisurely stroll along the canal towpath in Brecon, 10 miles away. Closer to home, the Brecon Beacons National Park Visitor Centre is 4 miles from the cottage. Breathe in the spectacular views from here, bound around in the play area and refuel with refreshments and doggy treats in the tearoom.
