A remote, peaceful and traditional farmhouse in the River Irfon valley at the foot of Cefn Alltwinau in the Cambrian Mountains, while only 2 miles from the amenities of Llanwrtyd Wells.
This fabulous property, situated in a quiet rural spot yet just 14.5 miles from the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, is ideal for families or groups of friends – including the canine ones, of course! Sleeping six across four welcoming bedrooms and with space for up to two dogs to stretch out, it makes a wonderful base for exploring the surrounding countryside. Head off to the National Park Visitor Centre (25.5 miles) for lots of routes for walkies and a bite to eat at the cafe, or take a tranquil stroll around Usk Reservoir (21.5 miles).
The property, which is situated down a mile-long lane shared only with the farm, is bursting with charm. Exposed beams and brickwork, and quirky artwork make this cottage a unique and charming place to stay with your dogs. Curl up by the fire in the open-plan living area while the chef of the group cooks dinner, the pups by your feet on the stunning flagstone floor, or hide away in the separate lounge with a good book. The small garden with low wall is perfect for soaking up some sunshine. Come bedtime, head up stairs to the bedrooms; each have their own character with either serene neutrals or calming blue tones. Children and big kids will love the bright bathroom!
Head out along the riverbanks where your faithful friends will love to take a dip, or book fishing with the owner at a reduced rate. The National Cycle Museum (19 miles) is a fun afternoon out for inquisitive children, as is the National Showcaves Centre for Wales (28 miles) with its themed caves. Take the Miner’s Way trail with the pups at the Dolaucothi Gold Mines (23.5 miles) while one of you stays with the kids and pans for gold.
