Enter via a handy porch – perfect for storing sandy boots and dog-walking gear – and into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, where you’ll all find ample room to relax. This is a lovely sociable space, with a cosy wood burner that the hound will love stretching out in front of as you all settle down for the evening. On a warm day, throw open the French doors to the enclosed garden and allow Rover to potter in and out. A step leads down to the immaculate outdoor area, where the pup can play on the grass as you enjoy an evening meal under the stars.
On a sunny day, take the 5.5-mile walk along the coast from Beadnell Bay to Low Newton-by-the-Sea. Along the way, be sure to stop off at Football Hole Beach – it’s a real hidden gem. With pale sand and green-blue sea, you could be forgiven for thinking you’d been transported to a magical tropical island! Located on a remote headland, the 14th-century ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle are quite spectacular. Accessed via a beautiful 1.3-mile walk along the rugged Northumberland coast, it’s the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle and find a bit of peace.
