Explore the Yorkshire Dales from this dog-friendly bolthole, ideally located just 6 miles from the Victorian spa town of Harrogate. Set within a non-working farm, the wide open spaces and charming local wildlife make this a wonderful place for families to stay with their canine companions ensuring plenty of walking trails in all directions. Visit the well-manicured lawns and plantlife of Valley Gardens (6 miles) for a leisurely afternoon stroll with your loved ones before stopping off at the cafe for a tasty treat.

Welcoming you into the property is the open-plan kitchen/living room/diner which has a homely feel and a neutral colour palette. At the heart of this room is a characterful wood burner, set into its original fireplace and offering a lovely warming glow during the winter months. Here you can kick back and relax on the large sofa or armchair to watch a film with Fido at your feet or soak in the sunshine from the dual-aspect windows as you read a book. The chef of the group will love the kitchen which has built-in appliances and plenty of space for you to get creative with your cooking. Between the kitchen and living room areas lies a four-seater dining table for the family to sit around at meal times or evenings spent playing board games. Completing the ground floor is the shower room and the first bedroom, which boasts a king-size zip-and-link bed that can be made up as a double on request, and a quaint window seat for you to sit and gaze out at the orchard. Upstairs, the double bedroom is a calming oasis at bedtime, with a blissful en-suite bathroom and a skylight allowing you to watch the stars twinkle in the darkness. Outside, the patio has plenty of space for Fido to snooze in the sunshine whilst you tuck into breakfast, lunch or dinner. In addition, guests are welcome to explore the walled garden and play area which is shared with the property next door.

When tranquillity is what you’re looking for, head to Fewston and Swinsty Reservoirs (12 miles) with a picnic packed into your backpack and let your dog sniff out the best sticks to fetch and wildlife to watch. Enjoy a day out to National Trust Brimham Rocks (16 miles), to explore more than 40 hectares of countryside where humans and hounds are sure to have a ball.

Delightful cottage in a wonderfully peaceful location but within easy distance of Harrogate, and many other attractions. The owners are friendly and helpful. It was a real highlight to be taken around the farm by them, and to hear and see the wildlife projects and sustainable farming practices they are adopting. Seeing a barn owl in flight was an aRead moredded bonus. The cottage itself has everything - with some very thoughtful touches. Cant wait to return! Hide

We had a lovey long weekend at the cottage. It was off the beaten track but really close to Leeds and Harrogate for days out. Picturesque countryside and we enjoyed a great dog walk across the fields and lanes to Almscliffe crag and then on to the Star and Compass pub for a meal (dog friendly). Just under an hour each way so perfect for us and the Read moredog. Cottage was clean and cosy and had everything we needed. Well be back for sure. Hide

Really lovely location that makes a good base for touring and, at night, have a peaceful nights sleep. The owners, Emma and Rob, were friendly and very helpful. We needed a few adjustments to be made to allow one of our party with restricted mobility to have an enjoyable holiday. Emma and Rob sorted this out straightaway and we are very grateful foRead morer their help. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Hide
