Sleeping seven over three sumptuous bedrooms and with plenty of space for up to three dogs to snooze, it won’t be long before you’re all feeling invigorated and ready to discover the peaceful Perthshire countryside. Take the whole pack to Scone Palace (13 miles) and run around in the acres of woodland gardens.
The property, which is surrounded by 100 acres of wonderful private countryside, is bright and airy. The kitchen/diner has a stunning contemporary farmhouse feel, while the lounge feels rustic and cosy with a wood burner for the hounds to curl up in front of. Enjoy superb views of the grounds from the sunroom, curled up with a book on the sofa, or watch the kids go mutts in the play barn playing tennis, badminton or archery. If that’s all a bit much for you, bubble away in the hot tub in the enclosed garden while the BBQ sizzles for an al fresco dinner.
Everyone’s welcome at the Scottish Crannog Centre (28 miles) where you can learn about the ancient loch dwellings that date back about 5,000 years. The military history at the Black Watch Castle and Museum (11 miles) is also well worth a visit. See the animals at Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre (17 miles) or have a go on their mini-golf course. Stroll the grounds of Castle Campbell (26 miles) which is dramatically situated above Dollar Glen, with steep ravines on three sides.
