This pretty cottage, situated just 2 miles from a popular village pub, is perfect for couples and families – including the waggy-tailed members! Sleeping six across three peaceful bedrooms and with space for up to two dogs, this property is ideally placed for exploring stunning North Devon. There’s no need to go far, though – with 18 acres of grounds to discover and a dedicated exercise paddock for the pups, there’s plenty to do on your doorstep to start your holiday in a leisurely fashion before venturing out.
The property, which can be booked along with three others to sleep 19, is spacious and welcoming with an open-plan style. The kitchen area is fresh and bright with exposed beams, while comfy chairs and a sofa in the lounge invite you to sink back in front of the TV after a long day while the hounds have a snooze. Grab the twin room on the ground floor with the en-suite WC or head up to the first floor where the bedrooms are equally as tranquil with wonderful splashes of colour. Sizzle up a BBQ on the enclosed patio and dine alfresco – before dinner, you could let the kids work up an appetite in the play area!
The beautiful scenery at Exmoor National Park (18.5 miles) is well worth the journey for walkies; discover the clapper bridge of Tarr Steps and stroll around the surrounding woodland. If you prefer a coastal walk, Instow Beach (21.5 miles) welcomes dogs on parts all year round and you can join the 108-mile Tarka Trail here too. Hire bikes for the Tarka Trail from Barnstaple (15 miles), or simply visit for the huge Pannier Market. If you’d prefer to experience the trail by rail, take a trip on the Tarka Valley Railway (17 miles) and head into the cathedral city of Exeter (30 miles).
