This superb property, situated just 7 miles from renowned town of books, Hay-on-Wye, is perfect for a family or friends’ get together – including the pups, of course! Sleeping 10 across five beautiful bedrooms and with space for up to two dogs, this holiday home is the ideal place to spend time unwinding among spectacular scenery. There are plenty of places for walkies around, including the 2.1-mile Hay-on-Wye River and Rail Trail (starting point 7.5 miles), or parts of the 103-mile Wye Valley Walk that starts at Chepstow and stretches to Rhayader (24 miles) if you’re feeling more adventurous.
The property, which is set on a hilltop location, is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen/diner is fresh and bright thanks to full-length bifold glass doors, which let you appreciate the wonderful views. Exposed beams and comfy sofas in the lounge welcome you to sink back in front of the fireplace with a good book that you purchased from one of the many bookshops in town. Enjoy al fresco dining in the enclosed garden before you hop in your private hot tub. Upstairs, the bedrooms promote a peaceful night’s sleep; wake up to fantastic views from most of the bedrooms to start your day right.
Go for a meal or a swift half at the dog-friendly pub in Painscastle (2 miles) or head further afield to Brecon (19 miles) and set yourself up for a day on the beacons with a hearty lunch. The Promenade (18.5 miles) follows a gentle tarmac path that’s ideal for little legs, both human and canine, or take a picnic to the Warren (8 miles) and stroll along the river. For something a little different, pop into the Small Breeds Farm and Owl Centre (13 miles); your hounds are welcome on the farm outside the display site.
