This picture-postcard thatched property is set in an idyllic spot, surrounded by open countryside. The cottage sleeps six guests and two dogs and is perfect for a chilled-out holiday exploring Dorset with your favourite four-legged pals. Head to the Jurassic Coast, 3.5 miles away, to marvel at the beauty of Britain’s only natural World Heritage Site or spend a lazy afternoon pottering around the quaint markets in nearby Bridport.

The characterful cottage, with rambling creepers adorning the outside walls, is everything you’d hope for in a traditional Dorset home, with added contemporary touches for a comfortable stay. Kick off your dog-walking boots in the spacious entrance hall, before entering the beautiful lounge which is full of traditional features. On chillier evenings, light the wood burner and snuggle up whilst your furry friends stretch out in front of the fireplace. During the day, the furballs will be in their element sniffing around the pretty lawned garden, whilst you pour yourself a glass of wine on the terrace or sink into the relaxing hot tub. Alternatively, challenge each other to a table tennis match in the games room - a fun way to while away a few hours.

You’ll find something for everyone at the picturesque town of Bridport (3 miles). Head over on market day (Wednesday and Saturday) to grab yourself some fantastic local produce and immerse yourself in the adorable Dorset culture. Afterwards, potter around the harbour with the pups and enjoy fish and chips on a bench whilst watching the colourful boats bobbing up and down. Eype Beach, just 3.5 miles away, is perfect woof walking territory. Tucked away under the towering peak of Golden Cap, it’s a magical spot, particularly at sunset. What’s more, dogs are welcome all year and the kids will love hunting for fossils.

The cottage was very comfortable and well furnished. Highlights were the hot tub and Table Tennis. Enjoyed by both children and grown ups. Phone signal and WiFi extremely poor.

We had a nice week here at the Thatch cottage. We were so lucky with the weather as it was warm and sunny. The garden is a dream - absolutely loved the outdoor space and to have lots of places to sit and relax. We visited nearby places (the beach at West Bay, Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens, Forde Abbey). Fab food at The Hive Beach Cafe and the SymoRead morendsbury Cafe. As small negatives, the wifi is very slow, the beds weren't as comfortable as we were hoping and the lane was busier than expected. We returned for our 2nd visit to Dorset Thatch. The weather wasn't as nice as last year but the games barn came into its own. Many a table tennis tournament was played and the table football was very popular with my grandsons. Thank you for another amazing week.

Beautiful cottage in a quiet location with only the occasional tractor or horse going by. Direct walks out through wonderful countryside. Jacuzzi was amazing and a treat despite the cold snap.

The cottage is exceptional. It is well equipped and in good condition. There is ample room for 6 adults. The sitting room is very comfy and has a wood burning stove, for which there was a full log basket when we arrived. There was a welcome hamper in the kitchen. The Symondsbury Estate cafe and shops are a few minutes drive away. There is plenty ofRead more parking space and an external games room. We spent an extremely wet New Year there and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Hide

Fabulous cottage in a beautiful location. So many walks available from the cottage. The hot tub was fabulous especially on the clear nights when we sat star watching. The fire is a beast, certainly a thing of beauty when ablaze. The welcoming bread and coffee was a lovely touch. We had everything we wanted for a peaceful break .

A beautiful house, exceptionally well equipped. The bedrooms are all suitable for adults and the kitchen is a great space to all get together for mealtimes. The hot tub is lovely - even if the hot weather meant it was almost too hot for us to use! Easy to access visitor attractions across Dorset and we thoroughly recommend the cafe and shops on theRead more Symondsbury Estate. Can't recommend this holiday house enough. Hide
