Spacious and comfortable, this superb couples’ retreat has an ambience of traditional luxury and is filled with beautiful original features. After a day at the seaside or a hike in North Gower’s gorgeous countryside, you can soak in the hot tub, enjoy the views from the terrace and get a good night’s sleep in the huge, atmospheric bedroom.
This handsome property is a welcoming place in which to relax after a day in the fresh air. In the open-plan living area you and your pup will want to unwind in front of the wood burner-effect electric fire, surrounded by exposed-stone walls and old beams. The mezzanine that overlooks this space is rather like a minstrel’s gallery and very impressive. There’s a well-designed kitchen which is perfect for whipping up meals for two, and a folding dining table positioned by the French doors for countryside views. The elegant shower room is another fabulous feature, and up the stairs is the king-size bedroom, snuggled under more beautiful wooden beams. Step onto the patio and you can enjoy a meal or a drink in the fresh Welsh air – perhaps something grilled on the BBQ. To use the shared outdoor games, utility room or hot tub, simply book via the rota system.
Set above the village of Penclawdd (famous for its cockle industry), the cottage is close to the coastal path for walks that range from golden beaches and dramatic cliffs to saltmarshes and sand dunes. Head to the prehistoric King Arthur’s Stone on Cefyn Bryn Common, 7 miles, or explore the cosmopolitan Swansea area of Mumbles, 9 miles, where you’ll find a lighthouse, Victorian pier, high-end shops and quirky galleries. Gower’s iconic beaches are close by, too: Oxwich Bay is 10 miles, Blue Pool 10.5 miles and Rhossili 14.5 miles.
