Breathe in the fresh sea air on a relaxing coastal break at this cosy cottage, half a mile from the beach. Aberaeron is a colourful Georgian town, with a pretty harbour to stroll round, plus a plethora of dog-friendly pubs and cafes. Sleeping four people in two bedrooms and welcoming two waggy-tailed friends, it’s a great option for couples or a small family. You and your pups will adore exploring the coast, countryside and culture of Ceredigion.
Original open fireplaces and beams add traditional character to the property’s open-plan living area and bedrooms, while creature comforts create a modern home from home. Cosy nights in can be spent in the lounge area catching up with your favourite programmes on the Smart TV or playing board games while the dogs have a nap. Upstairs, on the split-level landing, you’ll find the master double bedroom, while more steps take you up to the twin bedroom. Outside there is a tiered garden, accessed up steps, which is a delightful spot to enjoy a pot of tea – or refreshing bowl of water – while admiring the distant sea views.
Aberaeron seafront is divided by its attractive harbour, with beaches on either side. There is a seasonal dog ban on South Beach, but your energetic pups are free to play in the surf on North Beach all year round. Legs can also be stretched on the Dylan Thomas Trail around New Quay (8 miles), the inspiration for much of the poet’s work. The town’s Harbour Beach is dog-friendly, and you can go dolphin-spotting on boat trips from the pier. Dogs are also welcome on the woodland walks around National Trust property, Llanerchaeron (2.5 miles).
