Surrounded by glorious countryside, the charming Dorset village lends itself perfectly to long walks with your faithful hounds. It’s also the gateway to the Jurassic Coast and its stunning beaches. This traditional thatched cottage, nestled at the end of a row of similar properties, is a cosy bolthole for a couple and up to two four-legged friends. The village pub welcomes muddy boots – and paws – on your return from days out exploring the wilds of Dorset.
Entered at the rear through a picket gate, the cottage is homely and traditional, with exposed brickwork and a charming country kitchen laid out in a galley style. The lounge is a cosy place to snuggle up in front of the wood burner with your beloved hounds. If you want to read, choose a novel from the bookshelf and take it outside to the pretty terraced garden or up to bed before lights out. The bright super king-size bedroom is at the top of a winding staircase and has a stylish en-suite bathroom where you can indulge in a bubble-filled soak in the bath or a refreshing shower before taking the dogs out for morning walkies.
The vibrant market town of Bridport is within 2 miles of the cottage. It has a good selection of dog-friendly pubs and restaurants as well as a vintage market to sniff out some treasures. In the coastal village of West Bay (3.5 miles), go for a wander around the harbour and watch the fishing boats bobbing in the water. The beach here has seasonal restrictions, but nearby Eype (2 miles) and Cogden Beach (6 miles) welcome dogs all year round.
