This gorgeous Edwardian property, with far-reaching views over the Kilbrannan Sound, sleeps nine guests and two hairy hounds. The spectacular Isle of Arran, often said to be ‘Scotland in Miniature’, has a varied landscape that’s just begging to be explored with your trusty four-legged pals. Pull on your hiking boots and climb to the summit of Goatfell (9 miles away) or enjoy a lazy afternoon pottering around one of the Isle’s historic castles.
The spacious house maximises its waterside location, with big bay windows offering fantastic views and flooding the property with natural light. After a long walk with Fido and Rover, make a cuppa, fire up the wood burner and sink into the comfy sofas in the lounge and soak up the sheer beauty of your surroundings. In the evening, cook up a storm in the bespoke kitchen, before gathering around the large dining table to plan the next day’s activities. Outside, there’s a delightful enclosed front garden, again benefitting from glorious sea views, as well as an enclosed garden to the rear where the tail-waggers will happily while away the hours investigating all the new smells.
If you fancy a challenge, head to Goatfell. It’s the highest point on the Isle of Arran and is guaranteed to get the heart racing. At the summit, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views and may even spot a golden eagle soaring overhead. For a more relaxed excursion, wander around the grounds at Brodick Castle (12 miles). Look out for the red squirrels as you walk through the woodlands, cool off by the waterfalls and let the kids run wild in the adventure playground. Lochranza Golf Course (0.5 miles) is arguably one of the most beautiful in the country and well-behaved pups can join you for a round or two.
