Overlooking Loch Shin in the heart of Sutherland, this fantastically spacious and traditional stone lodge puts you and your pack within reach of Scotland's north, east and west coasts, as well as the spectacular mountain landscape of the northern Highlands. The area is a haven for flora and fauna, making it the ideal spot for getting closer to nature and exploring pastures new; deer can often be seen from the house in the early morning and at dusk.
Located 7 miles north-west of Lairg, the impressive property is approached along a quiet single-track road. Although dating back to the 1880s, as soon as you step inside you will appreciate that it has been fully modernised, with central heating complementing the warm and cosy Aga in the kitchen and the open fire in the living room (complete with an unlimited supply of logs), meaning dogs will be in their element. On warmer days you can step outside to enjoy a BBQ on the outdoor veranda, which overlooks the sparkling loch, or perhaps challenge friends and family to a game of table tennis in the garage – the ideal bolthole for younger guests. Back indoors you will find the property's six bedrooms on the first floor, with a good quality sofa bed found in the ground floor study; with a nearby easy access shower.
The rural setting is the ideal starting point for countless outdoor adventures, be it hill walking, off-road cycling or taking one of the lodge's two boats out onto the loch – good for testing canine sea legs. Alternatively, head south to pad the pavements of Lairg, with its local stores, eateries and a grooming parlour for pampered pooches, or head east to the golden sands of Embo, Dornoch and Golspie, all of which lie within 30 miles of your door.
