This fantastic property, situated just 1.5 miles outside of the village of Machrie, is perfect for you and your guests – including the four-legged ones! Sleeping fourteen with plenty of room for up to two dogs, it won’t be long before you’re off out exploring this attractive island. Go for long walks along Machrie’s shingle beach or hike through the moorland to the Auchagallon Stone Circle (1.5 miles) before popping down to a dog-friendly pub just 6 miles away. The heated boot room is the perfect place to store your walking gear and towel off your pet after a long muddy hike.

The property, which is located on a working farm in an elevated position looking across to the Mull of Kintyre, has an elegant and refined feel. Earthy tones paired with sophisticated furniture in the social spaces make them a pleasure to relax and catch up with family and friends in, while tranquil decor and soft lighting in the bedrooms ensure that you’ll get a peaceful night’s sleep. Spend warm evenings sizzling up the BBQ and dining alfresco while the pups run on the lawn, or if it’s a little chilly, enjoy fantastic countryside views from the conservatory with a drink in hand.

Go for walkies around the beautiful garden and country park at Brodick Castle (11 miles), or for something a bit more challenging try heading up Goat Fell (14 miles); there’s a paved path that’s ideal for four-pawed pals and children. Auchrannie (10.5 miles) is also perfect for gorge walking, abseiling or even mountain biking. But if you’re a group of whiskey lovers, you must head to Lochranza Distillery (14 miles). The birthplace of Arran Single Malt, your dog can join you and even have their picture taken on top of a barrel!

This house is one of the best I have ever stayed in. The owners have thought of everything. The house is beautifully decorated and so well stocked that it really feels like a home not just a rental property. The location is perfect with lots of country walks that can begin at the front door and larger adventures not far away.

House of Machrie was perfect for our family gathering - plenty of room for everyone to be together to eat/play games/cook and just chat, but also quiet, comfy corners for reading and solitude (and so many interesting books!). The views and rural location are special with sunsets across the Kilbrannen Sound and the joy of watching/hearing the exuberRead moreant lambs from every room. The decor, soft furnishings, bedrooms and bathrooms are exceptional and the whole property is very well appointed. Hide
