This sympathetically restored schoolroom offers couples a luxurious base from which to explore the stunning Highland and with its acre of enclosed garden, your four-legged companions will be content here too. Despite its peaceful location, you're within a mile of the village of Muir of Ord, with its pub, train station, independent shops and distillery. With the Highlands on your doorstep and Beauly Firth and Cromarty Firth within a few miles, you and your furry pals will be spoilt for choice when it comes to walkies.
Decorated with elegance and sophistication, original features such as vaulted ceilings, cast iron fireplaces and arched windows blend with bold colours and rich fabrics to create a sense of grandeur. The ground floor consists of a large open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with a wood burner at one end and a well-equipped kitchen at the other. There is also a king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room. The double bedroom and bathroom with roll-top bath is upstairs in the tower. Outside, a BBQ and furniture allows you to relax and soak up your surroundings. The garden is enclosed but keep an eye on curious canines who might be interested by the unfenced burn.
Beauly (2.5 miles) sits at the end of the Beauly Firth which feeds into the Moray Firth. It's a great spot for gentle strolls around the upmarket shops and eateries or some salmon fishing as well as being a popular base for outdoor enthusiasts with some stunning glens and mountains close by, including Glen Affric. For a spot of myth busting, and a lovely walk, head to Loch Ness (22 miles) or for woodland walks, waterfalls and salmon watching, head to Rogie Falls (9 miles). For something more urban, Capital of the Highlands, Inverness is 13 miles away with its bustling compact city centre.
