Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life with this charming barn conversion set in an idyllic rural location just a short stroll from the riverside quay of the historic Saxon walled town of Wareham.
A family of four and their two dogs can enjoy a comfortable and stylish retreat to Dorset at this lovely cottage. Set in the midst of several national nature reserves, including Stoborough Heath (1 mile) and Hartland Moor (2 miles), and located only 7 miles from the South West Coast Path, you can spend days exploring the dramatic Dorset landscape and then return to put your paws up in front of a roaring wood burner.
The cottage has charming rustic interiors, with its vaulted ceilings, exposed wood beams and stone floor. After big walks and brisk sea breezes, make sure to pack plenty of warm beds and cushions for your top dog to get cosy on. Prepare a favourite meal from home in the kitchen and fill a dish with food for Fido. The open-plan lounge/diner is a wonderful space for a relaxed evening all together, and once you’ve eaten, move from the table straight onto the sofa. Watch TV and unwind, then head to bed in one of the pretty bedrooms - your hound will no doubt want to stay curled up by the fire on chilly nights. In the morning take breakfast out through the French doors to the garden. Your dog can stretch their legs on the large lawn, while in the summerhouse you’ll find outdoor games for a sunny afternoon.
Roam the ruins at Corfe Castle (3 miles) for fantastic hilltop views, and when you descend to the village, you’ll find a popular local pub where four-legged friends are warmly welcomed. The Dorset Coast is full of beautiful and dog-friendly walks and beaches, so get tails wagging with trips to Durdle Door (10 miles), and Lulworth Cove with its famous Fossil Forest (9.5 miles).
