Head to glorious Edinburgh (17 miles) for its culture, shopping and festivals (Fringe, Tattoo and Hogmanay), plus museums, castles, theatres and heritage sites to explore. From your doorstep, it’s a dog-walking paradise, or grab a set of wheels and explore the cycle and forest mountain bike trails throughout the region. There’s also fishing along the River Tweed within walking distance, or, further afield, discover Hillend Dry Ski Slope (16.5 miles) to train for your next winter holiday with skiing and snowboarding fun.
