We found The Wendy House to be a charming little property, ideally situated on the edge of the village of Freshwater, conveniently about 100yds from a delightful (and well stocked!) village shop, as well as a cafe and a quaint little vintage clothes shop. A short walk down to the beach, and also easy access to a couple of other longer local coastalRead more walks as well as the local bus stop just a few feet from the front door with easy access to the open top tour busses to The Needles/Yarmouth etc. The beautiful little thatched church across the road was also a lovely little building to look around. Everyone we met in the locality were very friendly. The cottage itself was well furnished for two people, with a decently accessible kitchen with cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, a small fridge with freezer compartment (Don't make the mistake of doing a large chilled food shop before checking how much storage space you have!). No dishwasher or washing machine/dryer, so keep in mind that dishwashing will need to be done manually, and there is also a launderette in the nearby village of Freshwater if you are here for a longer stay. The living area was comfortable with a decent sofa and incredibly comfortable wingback chair, as well as a small dining table. The double bed was extremely comfortable, and the en suite shower/toilet were definitely good enough for a few days, however there is no bath, but that's not really surprising given the snug nature of the property. A small, but still very charming patio area, accessible via the bedroom doors makes for a great little sun trap in the afternoon/evening. Decent height garden walls also meant it was good enough that we could leave the side doors open and not worry about our dogs jumping the wall! Outside the gate is space for a standard sized car on the driveway, however it is quite steep, so be prepared to take a couple of attempts to get comfortable with parking here. Hide

This was our 4th stay at The Wendy House and it was as good as always. The cottage is small but has everything we needed for a lovely stay. The shower is good and the bed is comfortable. The cottage is in a great place for exploring the west of the island and only a few minutes walk away from Freshwater Bay. Definitely one to recommend

The property is first class and we have used The Wendy House the last 4 years. We are pensioners and so have to be careful and budget for everything. The ferry, eating out and now the cost of parking everywhere has made the holiday impossible.

This is a lovely place to stay for a few days. Located across the (quiet) road from a beautiful church and overlooking fields. Plenty of walks to do from the doorstep with your dog and a couple of places to eat nearby without having to drive anywhere. Well equipped and comfortable. You really need new curtains as they don't fit properly. Also new outside furniture as the bench moves cos it's broken and the table and chairs are rusty and dirty. Please check flooring as when you go into bedroom or bathroom it feels like your going to go through the floor.
