This delightful cottage in the peaceful Yorkshire village of Egton is the perfect rural retreat for families and their four-legged companions looking to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the local area. Its location within the North York Moors National Park gives you the choice of walks through the heather-clad countryside, but its close proximity to the Yorkshire coast also means you can enjoy walks on the beach with plenty of fresh, sea air. When you return home in the evening, you could dine at the pub across the road or soak your aching limbs in the luxurious bath.
Set over three floors, this traditional cottage brims with character and class; natural materials take centre stage with exposed stone walls, original beams and flagstone floors, whilst a neutral palette and timeless soft furnishings add elegance. Downstairs, there is a cosy lounge with a wood burner, and a country-chic, well-equipped kitchen. Completing the ground floor is a convenient WC. Winding stairs lead up to the bright twin room and stylish family bathroom; a further staircase leads up to the light and airy master bedroom (with an additional single bed). Children and dogs will love exploring the enclosed, courtyard garden with its lawn, patio and views.
The North York Moors has a unique landscape, with hills, woodlands, rivers and valleys, so there are endless walking opportunities, including the famous Blakey Ridge (18 miles) which has some of the best views in the country. Popular seaside resort, Whitby (7 miles), is an idyllic location with its seaside heritage and independent shops/eateries along its medieval streets. With strong connections to Dracula, the 13th-century ruins of St Hilda's Abbey are part of the town’s rich heritage. There are plenty of picturesque villages nearby with pubs and tearooms, including Hutton-le-Hole (14 miles), which also has artisan crafters’ workshops and a museum.
