Watch your best four-legged friend’s ears prick up when he arrives at this delightful romantic retreat at Glasshouses, 2 miles from Pateley Bridge. Surrounded by the stunning scenery of Yorkshire’s Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it is simply idyllic for those who enjoy spending time in the great outdoors. Up to two guests are welcome to bring one delighted dog to the charming stone cottage, which is one of three properties cleverly converted from a former inn building and still presenting original features such as vaulted ceilings, exposed stonework and timbers.
You’ll find a warm welcome for humans and hounds alike in the cottage’s open-plan, split-level lounge/diner. Switch on the Smart TV/DVD or Bluetooth music system, while your cheerful chum gets his bearings, then think about preparing something delicious for everyone in the chic kitchen. Feed Fido in here and serve a candlelit dinner for two in the dining area, a couple of steps up from the lounge. Use the handy washer/dryer to whiz through damp walking gear and your pal’s doggy towels. Take him for a last stroll, then head upstairs to your inviting bedroom with its en-suite bathroom and Smart TV. Sit out in the shared seating area on warm days.
Relish the incredible choice of walks you have here. Head to Brimham Rocks, for example, which is 2.5 miles away, and is an unusual collection of natural rock formations. It is managed by the National Trust and you can explore it with your best furry friend. Venture 9 miles to Fountains Abbey, also run by the National Trust, where you can all wander the beautiful grounds and Fido is very welcome to join you while you have a bite to eat in the visitor centre restaurant. He will also find plenty of water bowls around.
