Overlooking the stretching sands at Westward Ho!, this charming coastal cottage ticks all the boxes for a furry family getaway. Just half a mile’s scramble away, feet and paws will adore the unique grassy plains and wild dunes of Northam Burrows Country Park – waggy-tailed ones will need to be on their leads at this Site of Special Scientific Interest because of all the roaming sheep and wild horses. Join the South West Coast Path for more bracing seaside adventures. The beach at Instow (5 miles) is wondrous for walkies at low tide, with idyllic views across to Appledore (3 miles). A must-play for enthusiasts, the monumental Royal North Devon Golf Club (1.5 miles) has the oldest course in England.

Inside, the cottage is bright and elegant, superbly blending Georgian, nautical and Art Deco styles. The lounge is a splendid, cosy space with stunning coastal views and quaint period features. The kitchen is sweet and sleek, bright with white tiles and limewashed wood. The dining room and conservatory marry grace, old stone and maritime touches for chilled-out meals and bright coffee mornings. Upstairs, the master king-size bedroom elevates blue sea views to magnificent, and the twin is sandy and tranquil. Soothe tired limbs in the blissful bathroom, and relax with a BBQ on the enclosed decked area outside.

Exploring this unique landscape is an utter joy, for humans and canines alike. Step back in time at unspoilt Clovelly (12 miles), and run wild on beaches at Saunton (19 miles), Croyde (21 miles), Putsborough, Woolacombe and Ilfracombe (23 miles) (check seasonal doggy restrictions). Dogs and humans of all ages will love exploring the Tarka Trail, which passes through Instow and Bideford (4 miles). Sensitive noses will be intoxicated at dramatic RHS Rosemoor (12 miles), and kids will love The Milky Way Adventure Park (10 miles) and the Big Sheep (3 miles). Adventures await!

This cottage is in a great location with sea views from upstairs but a shame shrubbery blocked view downstairs. Good parking space. Cottage was clean and living room and bedrooms nice and comfy . Lovely cottage, furniture in lounge needs cleaning and mending. We felt that the 'garden' is too small for any dog, with nowhere for it to relieve itself. It is a steep walk to the beach, but good for the legs. The weather was very hot, which was a bonus. Wouldn't recommend to anyone with a dog, as it's a log walk to the part of the beach that theyRead more can go on. Hide

A great location - but be prepared for the walk back from the beach to be steep. The house was lovely with all of the amenities you need - except for Internet access. On the whole this is a lovely cottage. We chose it as we wanted a sea view and the we were not disappointed! This property is situated on a hill but you do need to be fairly fit to walk up to it so consider this before you book. The cottage was clean, comfortable and welcoming and a perfect location to spend our week with our 2 dogs.

This terraced house, which is perched above the village, boasts a wonderful view over the beach and estuary from the lounge and main bedroom. It was a great base from which to explore the north Devonshire coast. It was also clean and warm.

Property was ideally based for visiting Westward Ho. It was clean and welcoming, though could do with some TLC. However given the large turnover and allowing pets to stay it was ideal for our use. We would certainly book again if visiting Westward Ho.
