This beautiful cottage, situated in the quaint village of Otterburn, is perfect for a couples’ getaway - with the pups in tow, of course! Sleeping four across two cosy bedrooms and with plenty of space for up to two dogs to snooze, you could all soon be enjoying the wonderful walking trails that are on your doorstep, including Pennine Way (8.5 miles). Period features like ornamental fireplaces and well-preserved vintage furniture make this an ideal countryside retreat to relax in with friends, both two and four-legged. Plus, there’s a summer house in the garden for unwinding in during sunny evenings.

The property, which is less than 100 metres from a handy village shop, is cosy and welcoming with plenty of rural character. The country-style kitchen has everything you need to cook up a storm, while the bright and airy lounge becomes a haven in the evenings; the canines will love snuggling up to the open fire as you sink into the comfy sofas. The bedrooms, which are accessed via some steep steps, promise a peaceful night’s sleep among soft decor; nab the master bedroom for superb views over the hills and moorland beyond. Head down to the garden in the morning with your coffee for an al fresco breakfast.

Explore the village and get your bearings before heading out. Otterburn boasts dog-friendly pubs and restaurants, so there’s no need to cook, and historic Otterburn Mill is worth a wander around. The edge of Northumberland National Park is just 1.5 miles away, or if you fancy a walk around stunning grounds, try the National Trust’s Wallington (12.5 miles), where hounds can earn a place on their website! Stroll around the market towns of Corbridge (21 miles) or Hexham (25 miles) for a quiet, easy kind of day with the pups.

Well-appointed, comfortable cottage. Comfortable beds and warm duvets. Some road noise into the night from passing traffic may unsettle nervous dogs. Otterburn seems to be a prime wedding venue village. We didn't try the local pub for this reason. A comfy cottage, well-placed for visiting this area, with beautiful scenery any direction you drive. Hadrian's Wall and Kielder Forest/lake are under an hour away, Lindisfarne about an hour 15. Well-stocked kitchen with everything you need, and great shower. Good bed (we slept in the back bedroom, to avoid some traffic noise at busy times.) I booked this lovely stone cottage for 4 nights towards the end of August. It was clean and comfortable, with all of the amenities and home comforts you'd expect. Lovely comfy quaint cottage - well equipped, had everything we needed and a few extra nice touches with fresh scones on arrival, and a few treats for the dog too! Garden is accessed across a shared alley way and as a few other posts mention the fencing is quite low so I imagine some bigger dogs could make a great escape if so inclined! A comfortable cottage, but with steep stairs & different levels on first floor. It faces directly on to the A68 which goes through Otterburn, so the front bedroom was quite noisy with heavy lorries passing throughout the night.

Brilliant location. About an hour's drive from all visitor attractions. A sleepy village but with good pub and shop and cafe. All dog friendly. Lovely village trail. Cottage comfortable with all facilities. Pretty little garden with seating areas if the Northumberland weather allows.

The cottage is well equipped and good for exploring Hadrian's wall. The William de Percy is a short walk, dog friendly and the food is excellent. Otterburn Mill is a short walk, dog friendly and does a great breakfast. Our only issue was the garden, it is not fully enclosed, it is across an alleyway with access onto the busy main road. Small dogs wRead moreill be able to get through the hedge and large dogs will easily jump parts of the fence. The owners also ask that dogs do not toilet in the garden. Hide

An absolute find. Great location for exploring the hills, coast and Hadrians Wall. The lounge is gorgeous - very cosy with an open fire and great lounging sofas.
