Set out on long walks across the undulating Peak District National Park from your beautiful barn conversion on the edge of the owners’ working farm. Your party of six guests and one four-legged companion will relish the exquisite views, fresh air and miles of fantastic footpaths from your property, which is approximately 2 miles from the village of Hartington.
Part of a complex of holiday homes, your stone barn has been cleverly designed to offer upside-down accommodation. As such, your splendid open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining room not only provides great space for everyone, including your perfect pet, to spread out after a good day’s rambling, but also offers a verdant rural outlook. With a vaulted ceiling and timber beams, this rustic space comes complete with a TV to snuggle down in front of in the evening, a dining table for family meals, and a generous kitchen space in which to prepare local produce for hungry hounds and their humans. The master bedroom, with its en-suite shower room, is upstairs while two more bedrooms and a bathroom are downstairs. Here you will also find a good-sized hallway, with ample space for coats, boots and towelling down wet paws. Sit outside to soak up the scenery or cook up a BBQ, while Rover basks in the summer sun.
From Hartington, pick up Derbyshire’s Tissington Trail, which runs for 13 miles along a former railway line. Take the High Peak Trail from Dowlow, about 8 miles from your holiday home, and follow it 17.5 miles to High Peak Junction through some dramatic scenery. Enjoy the beauty of the great reservoir at Carsington Water, 13 miles from your base, where members of your party can fish, cycle or engage in water sports, while your pal runs about and splashes on the shore.
