Breathe in the fresh sea air at this charming white-washed villa perched on a hill above the sandy beach at Ventnor. With three bedrooms, two living areas, two kitchens and two bathrooms spread across three floors, it’s ideal for two families, including a couple of their four-pawed pals. When you’re not basking on the beach, walk the Isle of Wight Coastal Path for a change of scene.
Inside, the property feels regal, with traditional fabrics, antique furniture and roll-top baths in keeping with its Victorian past. On the first floor, you’ll find a country kitchen and bright living area with far-reaching sea views and French doors that open out on to the veranda. Here you can enjoy family meals while the canines sit quietly, mesmerised by the passing sailing boats. The bedrooms on the second floor both come with impressive sea views, and the spacious master room includes a TV and elegant seating area with Victorian feature fireplace. The ground floor is perfect for a couple and child who want their own space as it has an en-suite bedroom, separate living area and small kitchen. The dogs will love exploring the walled garden at the front, enclosed by high hedges and shrubberies.
Ventnor Beach has some restrictions for dogs, but there are several other beaches that are dog-friendly all year round, including parts of Luccombe (4 miles) and Yaverland (7 miles). Alternatively, take the coastal path at Ventnor to the botanic garden (1.5 miles), where dogs are welcome for a walk and drink. Walking east takes you to the pretty village of Bonchurch (0.5 miles) and onwards to Shanklin (4.5 miles). Shanklin Chine is the Isle of Wight’s oldest tourist attraction, and this leafy gorge is illuminated after dusk throughout summer and into autumn.
