If your doggies are the nature-loving sort, a stay at this beautifully presented barn conversion in Somerset will certainly not disappoint. It's located between the Quantock and Blackdown Hills (both around 7 miles), setting you up perfectly for long walkies they'll go mutts for. The two-bed holiday home is set on the grounds of a stunning 17th-century farmhouse with a 300-acre working dairy farm.

Charmingly rustic inside and out, this cosy home is a gorgeous place to spend some quality time with your loved ones and pets. The stylish kitchen has glossy white units and French doors providing a lovely view of the garden. In the cosy lounge, exposed beams, slate flooring, and a large inglenook fireplace set the scene for stylish relaxation, while a wood burner creates a warm spot for canine naps as the humans watch the Smart TV. The zip-and-link super-king-size bedroom (can be a twin on request) is on the ground floor, with an en-suite shower room. Upstairs, you'll find a twin bedroom overlooking the garden, also with an en-suite bathroom. The property boasts a good-sized garden where your pets can roam freely while you soak in the hot tub or sizzle up treats on the BBQ. You'll also have private parking for two cars.

As well as a pet-friendly pub 1 mile away, you'll find shops and cafes in the nearby town of Wellington (5 miles). For a fun day trip, take your pets for a ride on the West Somerset Steam Railway (4.5 miles). For sandy adventures, two beaches in Minehead (20 miles) are completely dog-friendly all year round. Exmoor National Park also beckons (12.5 miles) with its sweeping landscapes, deep wooded valleys and high sea cliffs.

Our long weekend stay at The Stables Cottage was absolutely perfect. We arrived a little early but the host was incredibly accommodating and made us very welcome. Beautiful decor and furnishings, gorgeous fireplace with woodburner and plenty of logs. Really well equipped kitchen (even lovely sharp knives!), everything perfectly clean. Excellent quaRead morelity linen, towels and bathrobes. Comfortable beds and pillows too, upstairs bedroom has lovely views across the farm and countryside. The hottub was perfect! The big plus for us was having the lovely, completely secure courtyard where the dogs could potter about safely. The location is perfect...very peaceful, just the sound of birds and mooing cows! Great pub a couple of miles away (The Anchor Inn) does an incredible Sunday roast. All in all, a great find. We'll definitely be back!! Hide

A lovely comfortable cottage in so many ways. Would definitely recommend it as an excellent base for exploring south west Somerset and parts of Devon.

The stables was an ideal choice for our short stay, with easy reach of the M5, north and south coasts, and would certainly be suitable for longer breaks. It was beautifully clean and well equipped, with loads of space and lots of additional touches, which were nice. Its a working farm, so you have to be ready for occasional tractor traffic and the Read morecountry smell, but neither impacted on our break in any way, and the farm is at the junction of several public footpaths, so off-road walks are easy. The cottage is very comfortable & well equipped. Everything was so clean- I usually take wipes but didn't need them! Its a very quiet area with nice local walks & a nearby shop. The pub is only a 15 minute walk & serves nice food. The hot tub is a welcome addition but unfortunately our weather was a bit damp so it didnt get used. Great place to stay. Quiet, comfortable, clean and relaxing. It is a working farm so there were a few flies and some good country smells but it certainly does not spoil the enjoyment. There are fly screens on the windows and patio doors allowing for fresh air in the cottage. We hope to be back soon.
