This gorgeous whitewashed cottage is packed full of character with an enviable location in the centre of the beautiful Lake District. Its two bedrooms and farmhouse kitchen make it a great place for friends or young families plus their dogs to reconnect and enjoy the incredible local walks. The roomy living room offers plenty of space for everyone to spread out in front of the open fire on chilly evenings, and with local shops and pubs within easy reach, there’s no need to leave canine companions dejectedly on the doormat.
Thought to be once the village police house, the charming black and white entrance porch has a police-style light above it, while inside original beams stretch proudly across ceilings and walls. The cosy lounge with loads of floor space is ideal for kicking back after a day exploring the Lakes, and there’s a homely feel throughout. Rustle up a well-deserved feast in the sociable kitchen with a dining table perfect for chatting to the chef, before heading up the winding stairs to the delightful double bedrooms, each boasting an en-suite shower room, and their own TVs.
The house is in the heart of Hawkshead’s windy streets, with boutique shops, cafes, and pubs on the doorstep. Visit the Beatrix Potter Gallery, sample the delights of the Chocolate Factory, or walk down to Esthwaite Water, 0.5 miles away. Further afield, it’s a pleasant walk up to Tarn Hows, 2 miles away, where the dogs can lead the way through the conifer woods around the pretty lake, and about 3 miles to famous Lake Windermere for walks, boat trips and perhaps a spot of lunch.
