Stay at this incredible country house and you’ll be able to play lord of the manor for a week. Sleeping 20 humans and four canines, there’s all the space you, your friends and family could possibly want for a fabulous holiday. There are lots of things to do in the house’s own grounds, but if you do want to venture further, you’ll find fantastic walks in the Pennines.
The house is grand and imposing, built in a classical Georgian style and surrounded by gardens. The house is beautifully decorated in keeping with the building, with a sweeping staircase through its centre and outstanding views from many of the rooms. There is a large lounge where you can get the fire roaring and relax on the comfortable sofas with your treasured hounds at your feet, or take an armchair all to yourself. The formal dining room is fit for a banquet, easily seating 20 or more. The kitchen has another large table for informal dining, and an Aga. After dinner, retreat to the drawing room and play the piano, or perhaps a game of billiards in the games room? There are nine bedrooms, most with en-suite bathrooms and all with heaps of individual style. Outside, there are extensive mature gardens and a tennis court.
The house has a private bridge to woodland that will do nicely for easy morning walks. For days out, the Pennines have endless walking trails and outstanding views. You’ll never be bored, and nor will your four-legged friends. Choose between tough climbs and gentle valley strolls. Or, for something different, visit the spectacular High Force waterfall, nine miles away.
