Holiday in style with your canines at this luxury wooden eco cottage with a hot tub and gorgeous watery views. Located in the north-east of the Brecon Beacons, it offers ample walking opportunities through ancient woodland, alongside gushing rivers and up pretty peaks – fantastic if you love watching (or chasing) wildlife. There’s space for up to four humans and two dogs, so it’s ideal for a romantic retreat or a trip among friends. If you’re holidaying as part of a larger group, consider renting out the neighbouring lodge, where four more guests plus another two doggies can be accommodated.
The space has been renovated in an ultra-modern style, with huge windows and a chic grey, black and white colour scheme. Extras like underfloor heating add to the deluxe feel. In the lounge area, stretch out on the roomy sofa and watch something on the Smart TV while Fido rests his chin on your knee, dreaming of Glamorgan sausages – or perhaps he can smell them sizzling on the BBQ? The private decked area outside overlooks a stream, orchard and woodland – soothe those tired muscles here with a glass of something bubbly while the dog chases flies nearby.
The house is in the village of Talgarth where you’ll find a few shops, a dog-friendly pub and a chippy all less than 0.5 miles away. When it’s time to take Fido on a workout, head to Pwll-y-Wrach Nature Reserve (1 mile) or Llangorse Lake (5 miles), or perhaps you’ll head up Pen y Fan (17 miles) for a more strenuous hike. Crickhowell (10 miles), Brecon (10 miles) and Abergavenny (18 miles) are Welsh market towns where you can mosey around the shops and go for coffee in one of the local cafes.
