This delightful stone cottage sits in a secluded spot surrounded by the stunning countryside of the Derwent Valley. Perfect for waggy-tailed walks straight from the door, the cottage is ideally located for exploring the local pretty villages as well as attractions further afield including Hadrian’s Wall. Sleeping six guests across three bedrooms and with two canine companions also welcome, it is ideal for a break in the glorious North Pennines.
Inside, the cottage is cosy and inviting. Decorated in traditional country style, it is full of characterful features including exposed beams and terracotta-tiled floors. The welcoming lounge has a large open fireplace and wood burner perfect for relaxed evenings with your furry friend at your feet. The smart kitchen is well-equipped for rustling up some hearty meals and the dining table sits next to the original fireplace, now home to the large range-style oven. At the rear of the property is a pleasant orangery, with French doors opening onto the terrace, so that your four-pawed pal can trot happily in and out while you relax over a meal. Outside, there is a walled patio area with seating ideal for a drink in the sun, and beyond, a walled paddock where your canine companion can stretch his legs in safety.
The cottage is surrounded by 900 acres of private land, marked with miles of pretty woodland walks for you and your four-legged friend to enjoy. The nearby village of Blanchland is exceptionally pretty, having been built of stone from the ruined 12th century abbey, and is home to a selection of dog-friendly pubs, perfect for a leisurely post-walk lunch. Derwent Reservoir (7 miles) offers a delightful 3.5-mile walk with fantastic views, and is an idyllic spot for a picnic on warm days.
