This charming cottage set at the heart of Seahouses is a great place to take the family, canine buddies included. Leave the car parked and enjoy wandering the bustling fishing village, watching harbour activity, before letting the dogs and the kids loose on the sandy beach. Cosy up after a day exploring in the welcoming lounge, with the dogs sprawled in front of the toasty electric fire. If you are a larger group, why not book the equally lovely cottage next door too.
Inside, the spacious lounge is perfect for the whole gang to kick back, whether it’s spreading out a game on the floor, curling up in an armchair with a book, or chilling out in front of a movie. The kitchen/diner has everything you’ll need to cook up a storm for the hungry masses after days spent out in the fresh air. The family bathroom is also on the ground floor, while upstairs the three bedrooms include a twin room and a bunk bedroom that the younger kids will love. Despite its central location, there’s private parking in the courtyard where you can also enjoy your freshly brewed morning coffee at the shared patio area.
The harbour and village are metres away, and the dogs can be bounding on the beach after less than a 0.5-mile walk. There are several dog-friendly beaches to explore locally, many of which you can walk to along the shoreline, such as Bamburgh (3 miles), which also has a historic castle. Don’t miss a trip to the Farne Islands for puffin and seal spotting — bring along Fido if he has his sea legs as some of the boat tours allow dogs on board.
