Welcoming four humans and three dogs, make the most of this beautiful area and time spent together in this cosy rural retreat. Spend the day discovering dramatic castles and expansive beaches as you journey along some of the 62 miles of Northumberland Coast Path, before returning home to while away the evening in front of the crackling wood burner with a glass of wine.

Snuggle up on the comfortable sofas and plan tomorrow’s adventures as Fido listens intently at the talk of walkies. Prepare a delicious meal in the contemporary kitchen and enjoy it in the dining room with delightful views of the front garden. Have a game of football with Rover in the half-acre grassed paddock at the rear of the property and, after all that hard work, enjoy a well-deserved rest in one of the two stylish double bedrooms. Take a morning coffee and breakfast outside at the bistro table and breathe in the fresh countryside air as you bask in the morning sunshine with a salty seadog at your feet.

Journey to the beach at Low Hauxley (4.5 miles) and dig holes, fetch sticks and paddle in the salty waves. Discover the remains of a prehistoric submerged forest here and glimpse at tree stumps preserved in peat, which are possibly 7,000 years old, as they are occasionally exposed by the tides. Board a dog-friendly boat cruise around Croquet Island from Amble harbour (5 miles) and view the resident colony of puffins as well as the working lighthouse and ruins of an ancient monastery

This cottage is tastefully decorated by loving owners , it shows internally and in the skill and knowledge used to plant up the gardens. It's peaceful and relaxing. However the step down into the bathroom ( although clearly signposted) is very steep and awkward to negotiate safely for any one who has ANY mobility problems. The step into the kitchenRead more and from kitchen to the rear are also things to be careful of .Although this is a bungalow there are definitely issues re up and down safe access . Hide

Lovely converted cottage but beware tall people. Very warm, plenty of space very clean and the bed very comfortable. We enjoyed the patio area but not too many opportunities (weather). The location was very quiet and a good base for exploring. I missed not having places to walk locally that didn't involve roads. Definitely recommended.

Lovely well equipped cottage with great paddock for the dogs to run free. Worth noting that there is no shop in the village and a trip into Amble is required.
