This stunning single-storey country cottage, surrounded by rolling hills and greenery, is situated within the Northumberland National Park and is the perfect base for exploring both the breathtaking coastline and rugged countryside of the area. Sleeping five and welcoming one pup, you can enjoy a family break or friends’ reunion in style, with modern home comforts and contemporary decoration contrasted by a traditional stone-built façade. Spend the day walking one of the trails along the nearby picturesque River Alwin, before returning home to enjoy a cup of tea and a dog biscuit in front of the crackling wood burner.

Unwind on the comfortable sofas in the open-plan lounge, with a worn-out pooch sprawled out at your feet, and enjoy the breathtaking rural views through the large glass door. Prepare a delicious meal in the modern kitchen and enjoy it around the dining table, or on warmer evenings dine alfresco as Fido plays on the lawn. Have a lazy afternoon in the garden and make use of the boule and croquet set in the shed. When the day is done, retire to one of the three beautifully decorated bedrooms for a well-deserved rest. Enjoy a morning coffee on the garden bench and marvel at the far-reaching landscape that you will inspect closer on walkies with your four-legged pal later in the day.

Head to the coast for the day and dig holes, fetch sticks and scamper along the golden sands to the salty waves awaiting paws and toes at Alnmouth Beach (25 miles) or join the Northumberland Coast Path (25 miles) and walk as far as your two, or four, legs will take you along the 62-mile long-distance footpath.

Great location (no phone signal). Cottage has everything you might need. Heating and wood burner more than enough, whichever you have on. Good garden for giving the dogs some outside air before adventures out. Close enough to many really good dog beaches. Big enough shop not far away, or superstores are plentiful a bit further on. 2 excellent NatioRead moren Trust houses in the area, but be aware they don't allow dogs off leads. Excellent relaxing birthday week away, enjoyed by us both and the dogs. Hide

Amazing location, clean modern cottage with everything we needed for a week's stay. There were lots of maps and information about local walks available. The surroundings were very quiet and serene, lots of birds in the garden at all times. We enjoyed it loads and so did our dog who loved running around the garden.

This cottage enjoys a great position within the Northumberland National Park with walks right from the doorstep. The garden enjoys full sun for extended periods and the pub next door does great Sunday lunches. Everyone we met was friendly and obviously enjoyed their local area. We had a great holiday despite getting extremely wet twice on the firstRead more day. Also recommend The Star in Harbottle and La Mensa at Townfoot (next to Co-Op) in Rothbury. A beautiful, comfortable cottage in a stunning location. One of the things I love most is being able to relax with a cup of tea or glass of wine at the end of the day in the recliners in the lovely garden. Lucy and Mal are very helpful and respond quickly if anything arises. This is our fourth visit and we hope to be back next year!

The cottage in a very rural location ideal for those who enjoy hill walking with a friendly pub next door Lovely touches like s/king bed, stove. I would however agree with a previous review in that the cottage is lovely and comfortable for 2 or 2 adults and children but not for more than 2 adults comfortably. Maintenance issues and welcoming toucheRead mores were a bit disappointing when we stayed but we made the owner aware so hopefully they will be rectified. If so we would recommend to others. Hide

When we arrived the pub next door was shut down and due to not arriving till after 5pm finding somewhere to eat was difficult and don't forget to take some milk for when you get there.
