Imagine taking your dear dog on a long walk through the stunning Worcestershire countryside, taking the time to throw her favourite ball as many times as she asks. She’ll be so tired and happy, all she’ll want to do is curl up in her basket and dream of catching sheep. Stay at this beautiful character cottage on the edge of the Malvern Hills and that’s precisely what your holiday will look like. The house, a quarry man’s cottage with spectacular views, is perfect if you’re a small family or group of friends with one four-legged family member.
The house has an open-plan lounge/kitchen where you can relax and socialise. The decor is colourful and stylish and the atmosphere cosy. The most picturesque part of the house is perhaps the dining room, which has windows on three sides offering vistas of the surrounding countryside. There’s plenty of outside space, too – on a sunny day, take breakfast out onto the patio for a pretty start to the day. This area has a table and chairs and overlooks the vibrant garden which has a lawn for Rover to roll around on. Cook up a feast on the charcoal BBQ and sling your hopeful pet a sausage or two – it is holiday time, after all!
Malvern is a lively town where you’ll find several dog-friendly pubs as well as markets with plenty of interesting scents to sniff. In the surrounding area, you won’t be short of footpaths and bridleways for burning off all that doggy energy. If you fancy a cultural day out, head to Eastnor Castle (9 miles) which, unlike many UK stately homes, welcomes dogs in the house as well as the grounds – as long as they stay on a lead.
